I've just finished watching the last second episode of The Seventh Day 最美麗的第七天 starring Kevin Cheng, Niki Chow, Bosco Wong and Natalie Tong. Will take a break and type this out first.

It's a good show and a 'revolutionary' series by TVB, departing for the usual TVB style. It's a mixture with both Kdrama and Jdorama factors and is an echo of the previous hit Under The Canopy of Love 天幕下的戀人, starring the same cast. Why so? Well, there's cancer and there's some filming styles you often see in Jdoramas. Yes, I'm sick of the cancer/accident/memory loss plots so common in Kdramas, but for TSD (lol, yes, it stands for The Seventh Day, not Tensai Shimura Doubutsuen), there's something different.
The cancer plot is the same but the series was able to bring out feelings which kdramas tend to overdo it. I was touched by the lines the characters said, not just those between Wing (Kevin) and Yan (Niki) but also those spoken by Yan's family after they found out about her illness. I was particularly touched in this one scene where Yan's father apologised to her for telling Wing about her illness. That was the first time Yan spoke about why she did want to tell Wing about it; she wanted him to remain happy even after she dies and to be able to live his life happily with someone else. I really felt very touched then and I feel that Niki's acting has improved since UTCOL. There were also lines here and there which warmed up my heart.
Then there is this effect done on the lighting to make it look blurry and dreamy. Some people didn't like it but I'm fine it it, although I felt that it wasn't appropriate in certain scenes ad this effect worked better in UTCOL where the plot was mainly dreamy and romantic, unlike in TSD where half of the series was sad. I especially love the beautiful scenery they had in Japan. Very breathtaking and it made me love the country even more.
Also, they had this fade-out effect as they shifted from the story between Yan and Wing and Don and Sasa. Like above, some people didn't like it but I think it was ok. Maybe I'm too used to such 'exaggerated' styles from long-term over-exposal to Jdoramas. It was nothing compared to Nodame. XP
Of course, the plot isn't that original and the series was not as good as Jdoramas are in setting the right pace and bringing out certain feelings subtly. I felt that more time could have been spent on the relationship development between Yan and Wing...they kind of jumped into a relationship too abruptly. Of course, they would then risk becoming too draggy. A balance must be striked.
I was irritated by Sasa initially. Yes, the scenes between Sasa (Natalie) and Don (Bosco) were funny and they really tickled my bones whenever they Sasa pulled tricks on each other Don. But she got kind of irritating by trying Don really bad just for exaggerated plots for her comic. That is unbelievable. Of course I enjoyed some scenes like the one after she met his family at his home for the first time. Don ended up holding her hand as he sent her home and he thought to himself that even if Sasa wasn't a rich girl, he will still like her. But, when Sasa later discovered that he had started wooing her because he had mistaken her for a rich man's daughter, I find it stupid that she didn't realise that he really likes her because although he had found out about her real family bg, he still stayed with her. Oh well, at least from then on, she became less of a pest and I grew to like her better.
There was this scene where he sent her off at the airport. Their hand accidentally met and then, Don wore this really lovelorn look on his face and embraced her tightly, telling her not to go, although she still left in the end. This is a rather typical scene from a romance series, but I liked the feeling to the scene. The background music helped too because it was soft and created a romantic atmosphere for that scene. For the first time, I was touched by a Sasa X Don scene. I was practically screaming for them to tell each other of their feelings and not try to be smart by predicting that the other party held no feelings for him/herself. Yes, this is the part where I felt was a bit too draggy. There wasn't much of a development. Oh dear, the K effect!
And one more thing worthy of mention. Yan's dog in the series, Jack. OMG. You have to watch him. He is amazing. I will die to have such a pet. He could switch of the lights for Yan when she slept, turn out the tap and fill up the basin for her in the morning and even bark to war her family members when he realised she was in pain in the middle of the night! He even hid himself in shyness when Yan spoke of his liking for a female dog of their neighbour. He's not just a dog, but also a friend and a family member. Yan could ask him for advices and speak to him about her worries and he will response and even tug her to sleep. He's one dog I will always remember from a tv series.
Overall, I'll give the series...4 stars out of 5. ★★★★☆=) Good attempt by TVB on a romance-based series and I hope they will continue trying in this direction. (Stop throwing me all the family feuds where everyone is a bad guy. ENOUGH!) I think it's not fair to compare TSD with Kdramas and Jdoramas. Instead, I compared it to other HK series.
On a side note, I really like all the clothes worn by the four mains in this series. The guys look very cool and the girls very sweet. The black, rider type of clothe Wing often wears in the series is a very different image for Kevin. It gave him this wild, untouchable look in contrast with the sauve look he usually spots.
Lastly, I've translated (very roughly) the theme song from the series, sung by Kevin Cheng. I liked it when I first heard it but it never sticked to me, unlike the theme song from UTCOL which I took to at first hearing. But after watching the first few episodes of the show, I've grew to really like it. It suited the mood of the series and had this sad, melancholy feel to it, while being romantic. It's a light song and the notes seem to be floating. XP It's especially good if you listen to it while watching the opening to each episode. The scenery from Japan, the arrangement of the scenes, the colours (cool tone) of the scenes and the scenes chosen all add to the beauty of the song. To be honest, everytime I hear the song, I feel like dancing (you know, the slow, ballroom type)! Tell me how you feel after listening, k?

The one with a joker face. Not the best looking but I like his humourous nature. One of the TVB 3 musketeers, together with my Raymond and also Ron.

Never really paid much attention to her but her performance in TSD was good, showing a range of emotions and expressions. Hope she'll take on more roles!

Lol..Shuai ge-es. XD All the three of them (exlcuding Bosco of course) aren't very popular, but, I've seen them around and I'm more than pleased that TVB had put them together in the series. Shuai ge-es galore!!!

Next, I'm considering watching The Master of Taichi 太極 starring my most most most beloved Raymond Lam and Vincent Zhao. I've read the sypnosis and worry that it may end up like Dicey Business where I love the story but I hate to watch it because my beloved characters go through such an emotion rollarcoaster, I feel like crying my heart out for them. =/ I'll see how. Now, it's back to the last episode of TSD!

I started on this tw idol drama 斗牛要不要 aka Bull Fighting aka DNYBY last night because my dearest Mike He is the male lead. Well, it took me quite some time to start on it (ep 7 or 8 has already aired) because the female lead is Hebe. I'm not exactly a fan of any of the SHE girls so I didn't know if I should watch this drama. Besides, I tend to get jealous whenever Mike acts opposite a female other than Rainie. It's silly, but I feel jealous FOR Rainie. Oh wadever.
But due to the lack of good and engaging jdoramas/hk dramas recently, I started on this drama. Since I don't really dislike Hebe, I guess I could give the drama a chance. There's afterall Mike to save the day =X
Ok a few points I need to make after watching the first 4 episodes:
The two guys who are Mike's best friends in the show are pretty good looking. One bears the resemblence of 趙文卓, one of my favourite actor. There's also Lee Wei (Li Wei?) who's character is really typical of a supporting lead. So pitiful....haiz....So, eyecandy - Checked!
Mike's character, Shen Ruo He 沈若赫, looks a bit like Mike's character in DBY. The hair and all..he also has a similar aura...but he lacks the tad of humour and playfulness in DBY as well as WWL. But still, good eyecandy. I find that Shen Ruo He's character has got more depth than Jiang Meng in DBY...but not as likeable as Huo Da in WWL. It's like somewhere in between. Maybe he'll prove me wrong in the later episodes. I have a feeling he will. =) Hopefully.
Ok now..the last point I need to make and my primary reason for this post. It's something I've noticed since episode 1.
DNYBY resembles HYD SO MUCH:
- The male lead - In both dramas, the male lead is a really rich dude (Tsukasa was richer, of course) and is really good at fighting. They are both the point of attention in school and are both in a group. Tsukasa's in F4 and Ruo He in Trio. The members of these groups are all very good at fighting, very rich and/or very popular with girls.
- The female lead - The female leads both have very strong character and both had experience challenging the male lead. Of course, both ended up being bullied by the fellow schoolmates. Makino due to the F4's red ticket (or wadever you call it) and Yi Sheng Xue 伊勝雪 was attacked by Trio's fanclub/supporters. However, while Makino had to struggle hard to survive, Sheng Xue managed to put a stop to it quickly.
- The change - After getting to know the female lead, the male lead both change from being coldblooded to becoming more human.
- The kidnap - I stopped at here in ep 4. In both dramas, the female lead got captured by the male lead's enemies. In return for her safety, the male lead has to endure being beaten up by his enemies without putting up a fight. At where I paused, the female lead had ran in front of the male to take one blow on his behalf. Same as HYD ne. And also, when the female lead first got captured, she was sure that the male wouldn't return for her.
Ok, there are also a lot of differences, both minor and big. But here are some of the obvious similarities which I don't know if I could have tolerated if Mike wasn't there. =) I'm biased. I admit. =D
This drama is coming on fine...and I quite enjoy it...but I doubt I will be as addicted to it as I was to WWL. We'll see how. I depends much on the plot as well as the chemistry between Mike and Hebe. It's gonna be tough, given the type of chemistry I've seen displayed by Rainie and Mike. Ganbatte ne, 小美!!!

It's funny they call Mike as "Mike Ha" (マイク・ハー) in Japanese. I guess he really is going to invade Japan ne..he has a official site in Japanese too! And then he's starting to move into HK's tvb..man he's going to make it deshou?
I'm going to start watch "Bull Fighting" aka 斗牛要不要 where Mike has a romance going on with Hebe from SHE...and then as usual, the one to end the triangular relationship, Li Wei (Or issit Lee Wei?) I was just reading some posts about the drama..about Mike and Hebe..and I got a bad feeling. I know it's dumb and weird and..totally crazy, but I got jealous. I cannot seem to handle Mike with anyone else but Rainie. ARGH I think I'm too engrossed into the whole RM thing. But...=/ I'll give the drama a shoot.

Save me. I've gone without sleep for...(omg it took me like 20 sec to calculate O.o) 42 hours...To think I'm still very sick. >_< Aniwaes, not in a clear state of mind right now, so pardon any typos/blabbering.
I bought the WWL photobook!! YES! It was out at Kino today (yesterday)! About 24 SGD, but the book is THICK and BIG..bigger than the Arashi AAA and the ISWAK one..loads of pictures..LOADS man. Very worth the buy, really. Loads of contents and even a "behind the scene" section..one of the best drama photobook I've seen. Then it came with stickers and postcards which are only found with the first press version. XP
Aniwaes, I haven't got a chance to really read it yet..will do so when I'm more energetic. But what I did was to browse through it and grab hold of some scenes which have not aired yet. I captured the pictures using my dear digicam. NO WAY am I ever putting any books into any scanner. T.T So the pictures ain't crisp clear..but well, my intention is to share the plot development, not the graphics, so who cares. Aniwaes, I made some effects so the pictures won't look so pixelated and ugly.
My first time doing scanlations, so don't mind them looking so...weird ne?
I'm watermarking them all, because I don't want any unhappiness to arise again, and well, I always do that for my artwork and scans...this is no different. The only difference is that the watermarks I put are really huge. I've never put them so big and so visible before. Well, all the better for those blind to red fonts.

Okay, time for my bed...I need to catch up with 2 days' worth of sleep..but I need to be awake in 7 hours' time, for driving! ah..driving..something scary happened during driving earlier..I'll update more tomorrow! Nitez people..
I was creating the strips for ep 7 when I remembered that WWL's ep 8 (by tv cutting) was airing at 10!! And so I started a frantic search for a website to watch it, real-time. Thanks to the bunch of people at the forum, I managed to watch it! THE NET IS AN AMAZING THING! If oly we could do the same for Jdoramas. T.T And yes, just to watch it, I even d/l-ed a program...which I don't usually do. >_<""'
Well, I've been on a 'capping mission' and so, while this is entirely unplanned, I'm posting up some caps from the episode. I've translated the lines inside the caps too. The quality of the caps ain't very good and I'll most prob redo them when I get my vcd. Howver, the main aim of this batch of caps isn't for graphic purposes, so just close one eye ne.
Basically, I've only capped the interesting scenes and made sure that I included the whole conversation that was taking place, so people who didn't get to catch it yet or those who don't understand Mandarin can understand. (Now we understand how it's like to watch entire series without subs ne. XD Having said that, please note that I didn't cap anything that had been showed in the "episode 8 preview" clip shown last week.

How could Huo Da say that to Jia Di? It was really mean..maybe he didn't mean for it to sound that way, but it really hurt.
If you really treat her as a friend, you won't say such things of her no matter how angry you are. You made it sound like Jia Di was something undesirable!!!
And the last 3rd cap made me really mad. Huo Da, if you don't do something really, really sweet for Jia Di soon, I'll be rooting for Huo Ya already! (although I know it'll be HD x JD in the end).

=) I got my TIME albums from Angeline dear today. But I've not opened them yet. I don't think I'll be opening them. Lazy~ I take me 5 mins to open one, and another 5 to put it back nicely. argh....I'll just asked Angeline to send me rips XD
Bought the Mayday album today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The one with 3 new songs, 3 remixes, and 12 songs recorded live from their concert. (The one which I missed because no one wanted to go with me!!! MAYDAY is so talented, and their concerts are VERY HIGH. Like Arashi's, just without the dancing...but, none of my friends wanna go!! sighz) Yes, for that 3 songs, I bought the album! The songs are good yo. And the thing is, it costed just 16 SGD. We asked, and Arashi's TIME LE (second batch, because the 1st batch got sold out already! YAY!) will arrive in 2 weeks' time and costs 80 SGD. I can buy like...5 Mayday albums =P
I uploaded Mayday's 離開地球表面! Very nice!! Listen to it ne.
AHHH the live recorded version of their songs..so beautiful..in some of the songs, I could hear the fans singing along. If only Arashi has got such albums as well!
I will buy the Leehom album when the version with the autograph entrance pass comes out, as usual. And usually, after attending the autograph session, I won't listen to the album for a month, because I usually go 3 or 4 hours beforehand, and get to hear the same album being played for numerous times, until I can memorise the songs already!
Aniwaes, busy day today, but I will still post my beloved screencaps! I made them yesterday, because I knew that I won't have time to today. Not as much as the previous eps, just 230 caps, 38 strips. =) I'm so happy, because Melissa says she'll give the drama a shot!

I just watched Leehom's MV for his new song 落叶归根 (The fallen leaves return to their roots). It's good. The song has got a..very peaceful, 70s feel to it. I can imagine it being a theme song for a drama based in that period, and the male lead looking for the female all over the streets, while wearing a straw hat. I need to go back to Leehom abit, I'm feeling guilty for neglecting him and Mayday. But yappari it's still Arashi at ichiban!

I melted when I saw how disappointed 惡少 looked when he thought 嘉蒂 helped him with his exams for 霍彥's sake, like that evil woman HMPF. But then, he looked so genuinely happy when 嘉蒂 told him otherwise. =)
But it was so sad to see him trying to put up a brave front when 嘉蒂 bid him farewell. The both of them. They were both putting up a brave front!!
@ ailaMarie: I think she got angry with him (haven't rewatched to see if she slapped him) because she was too shocked? Futhermore, maybe she felt that he kissed her because he wanted to keep her quiet and not because he liked him, which was what he said later on when he apologised...(although I highly doubt so...)
